The chamber elected on 7 November 2023 holds its first sitting

On 28 November 2023 the Mejlis elected on 7 November 2023 met for its first sitting. The sitting opened with prayers and the State Anthem, and the deputies took the oath. The day before, on 27 November, the Governor took the oath of office in Legislative Hall, beginning the term that runs until November 2027.

The chamber re-elected Nurbek Sultanov as Speaker. The composition of the chamber: Democratic Party of Irad 51 seats, independents 6, Nurzhan civic lists 3. The chairmen and members of the five standing committees will be elected at the next sitting.
