First sitting of the new chamber. Nurbek Sultanov elected Speaker

On 26 November 2019 the deputies elected at the general election of November 2019 met for the first sitting of the new chamber in Legislative Hall. The sitting opened with prayers and the State Anthem. The deputies took the oath.

By secret ballot the chamber elected Nurbek Sultanov, deputy for the Talas city constituency and chairman of the Ways and Means Committee since 2015, as Speaker of the Mejlis.

The composition of the chamber: Democratic Party of Irad 54 seats, independents 4, Nurzhan civic lists 2.
